The Pūtea Tautoko Student Relief Fund is for University of Otago students affected by financial hardship that has become a barrier to study.

How do I check if I am eligible for Pūtea Tautoko

With limited exceptions, all students enrolled at the University of Otago are required to pay the compulsory Pūtea Tautoko Student Relief Fund fee, currently set at NZ$20 (including GST). All students who have paid the fee are eligible to apply for support from the Pūtea Tautoko Student Relief Fund.

MBChB students should apply for a Medical Hardship grant first unless it is natural disaster-related, in which case an application to Pūtea Tautoko is appropriate.

Students living in University-owned colleges, and Uni Flats residents, should first contact the warden/subwarden to check if any financial support is available.

University-owned colleges

Students living in University-affliated colleges should contact the warden and access college-operated scholarships/funds before applying to Pūtea Tautoko.
