Employers and other members of the public can use the University's graduate search database to verify whether someone holds a particular degree or other qualification from the University of Otago:
This database has records of those who have graduated from the University (including those who have been awarded diplomas or certificates) since 1977.
When searching for the graduate, ensure you enter their legal name at the time the degree was awarded.
