For third-party verification of completed qualifications, the University of Otago Graduate search database can be used to confirm whether a person has formally graduated from the University. This includes graduates who have been awarded degrees, diplomas, or certificates since 1977.
See the following limitations of the Graduate Database:
- Only students who have formally graduated (either at a public ceremony or in absentia) are included
- Graduates are listed under their official legal name at the time of graduation
- Graduates from before 1977 are not included
- Students who have completed a qualification but have not yet graduated are not included
- Graduates of the Dunedin College of Education are not included; qualifications awarded prior to 2007 can be verified by contacting Student Records
Email student-records@otago.ac.nz
If a graduate is not listed in the database, or if verification is required for a student who has not yet graduated, enquiries can be directed to the Student Records Office. Requests for corrections should also be made through this channel.
More detailed information about an individual's qualifications, or any information relating to students who have not yet graduated, can only be released with authorisation from the person concerned.
