Tutorials are small group sessions led by a tutor for discussion and individual assistance. They include discussion of the lecture content and assessment, and allow for interaction with other students, presentations, and debate on themes and concepts related to your paper. Some are compulsory and some will be optional.

There are two types of tutorials:

  • Tutorials that are part of your papers. These will show in your timetable and you must attend them — attending these tutorials may be a terms requirement (needed to pass the paper)
  • Tutorials that are offered by the University of Otago to support your learning (e.g. departmental, Student Learning Development, residential college, Māori Centre, Pacific Islands Centre) are part of the University but not compulsory
