You can print from the Virtual Student Desktop/Staff Desktop in the same way you print from a University of Otago student computer. Print jobs are sent to a University-wide print queue.

Printing a PDF directly from Adobe Acrobat Reader can sometimes be unreliable and will not always show up at the printer. See the related article Troubleshooting printing in Adobe Acrobat for a solution to this issue.

Windows Student Desktop

Click Print as normal, and choose the appropriate printer from the drop-down list of printers:

Dunedin, Invercargill, Auckland

  • Black and White Printer
  • Colour Printer

Christchurch

  • UOC Black and White Printer
  • UOC Colour Printer

Save a file to PDF via the print menu

Word, Excel, and some other applications allow you to Save As directly to PDF, but you can also save a PDF from any program on the Student Desktop by using the print menu.

To save to PDF:

  1. Click Print.
  2. Choose CutePDF Writer as your printer.
  3. After pressing Ok or Print, you will be asked whereabouts you want to save the file.

Mac Student Desktop

  1. Click Print as normal, and choose one of the following from the list of printers:
    • Black_and_White_Printer
    • Colour_Printer
  2. Click Print.
  3. Wait for the uniFLOW window to load—this will take a few moments.
  4. Click OK to submit job.

Do not change the options on this screen as these will not change at the printer

You can pick up your printing from any Uniprint printer by swiping your student or staff ID card or entering your username and password to release the print job. However it is not possible to send print jobs directly to a particular printer.
