A University of Otago external username may be required to access IT services and to provide a University ID card if you do not have an employment agreement with the University, or if you are not an enrolled student.

If you wish to apply for an external University username, it is essential to review the guidelines and eligibility criteria below:

Library eResources

Access to Library eResources to those who are not University of Otago staff or students is restricted. A University username is also required (refer to the above). After receiving your external username, check your eligibility before completing the Library eResources Request form.

Access to electronic resources for visiting students is not permitted.

Access to the Library's electronic resources for staff not on the University's payroll system is automatically provisioned for Clinical Lecturers and other Non-OU Staff members.

Access for those with other types of external username requires approval.
