The University of Otago has a number of memorials around the Dunedin campus. Over 60 individuals are remembered through tree planting, as well as 10 organisations and events by plaques, park benches, and trees. Memorials are intended to commemorate special events, or staff, students, or alumni who have passed away.
In accordance with the University's campus memorial policy, if you are an individual or group with a demonstrated link to the University, you can request a memorial tree or plaque to be installed on campus at your expense.
The Commemorative Register was established in 1980 to record memorial and commemorative features around the University campus. The Register links to locations, stories, and photos of the memorials.
