Door and building access is managed by the Proctor's Office and ID cards are issued by the ID card office.

ID cards allow access to buildings after-hours or to restricted areas based on access given by departments. Relevant building and door access is added to your ID card and is determined by papers or by role.

Contact your department for the details of where your card will give you access and between what times, or for requesting additional access.

For issues with student access to buildings or faulty ID cards, undergraduate students should contact Campus Watch. Postgraduate students should contact their department.

Access to buildings is controlled by two separate processes:

  • A student's paper codes will automatically give them access to their relevant rooms/labs/buildings. Problems with this type of access should be emailed to: door.access@otago.ac.nz
  • Many departments have control over access to specific rooms/labs to give after-hours access to postgraduate groups and/or the department has rooms/labs that need to be secured. Students should be directed to the relevant subject department administrators for this additional access. The administrator will need to email a request to: door.access@otago.ac.nz

For issues with staff access to buildings or faulty ID cards, email: door.access@otago.ac.nz

If it is an emergency, or if you are locked out of your office, contact Campus Watch:

Or go to their 24-hour control room at the Proctor's Office. There is no official after-hours contact for the Wellington campus.
