Southland campus
Two computer labs plus the library are available for students, with both Windows and Mac computers and multi-function device (MFD) printers. You can top up your printing account at the EFTPOS kiosk in the library.
If you require access to the computer labs after-hours, please get in contact with the Southland campus library assistant at pam.melgren@otago.ac.nz
If you notice any issues with the computer lab on the Invercargill Campus, contact AskOtago
University of Otago, Christchurch (UOC)
The Christchurch student computer lab is on the fifth floor of the main UOC building. Access via student ID card swipe only.
Wireless network access is available in the Canterbury Medical Library (CML) on the sixth floor.
More information regarding the library on the Christchurch campus can be found on the Canterbury Medical Library webpage.
University of Otago, Wellington (UOW)
There are a small number of student computer lab options across the Wellington campus.
Library, Hanson St
There are six student PCs available at the Hanson St campus. Two are in a Zoom room, and four are located off the side of the common room. Access is during staffed hours (8:30am–5pm).
Level G/7, Newtown
Five PCs are available for student use on Level G/7. These can be found in the Department of Medicine, first door to the left when entering from the WSB Blue lift side. Access is 8am–5:30pm, or 24/7 with a student ID card.
Hutt Hospital
There is a computer lab at Hutt Hospital with seven PCs available to students. Two office spaces are available, one of which is shared with CCDHB. As there are no UOW staff available here, the DHB contact for any questions is Helen Clark, email helen.clark@huttvalleydhb.org.nz
University of Otago Auckland Centre
The Auckland Centre has an MFD printer available between 10:30am and 3:30pm Monday-Friday. Please contact Auckland Centre staff for information on other facilities.
UOW
There is also a computer lab in the Prefabs building (Newtown campus) which is booked through Outlook calendar. Students would not normally be encouraged to use this space, as it is reserved for teaching purposes, but it may be offered in an extreme scenario. Access hours are strictly 8:30am–5pm.
Canterbury Medical Library
Dunedin and Wellington campus students are welcome to use the Canterbury Medical Library in Christchurch. However they will need to contact AskOtago's Christchurch hub to be let into the School of Medicine building (where the Library is located) by phoning +64 3 364 0530 as their student ID cards are not compatible with the Christchurch campus access system.
For after-hours access, visiting Dunedin students will need to contact AskOtago and be issued with a temporary access card. They will need to pay a deposit of $20, which will be returned once they return the access card back to the Hub (the cards used for temporary access are running low, which is why students need to return them once they are finished with needing access to the Christchurch campus).
Please note that Otago students from anywhere can borrow books using their own student ID cards.
