The Centre for Innovation (CFI) is a hub for activities at the interface of research and business. The Centre houses University of Otago spin-out and start-up companies alongside other companies and University offices that facilitate technology translation and commercialisation. It is also the home of:
- The Research & Enterprise team, which co-ordinates and facilitates the research efforts of the University
- Otago Innovation Limited (OIL), a wholly owned subsidiary of the University, charged with exclusive responsibility for the commercialisation of intellectual property arising from research within the University
