Fees are charged for treatments at the Dental Hospital and Clinics, payable on the day of the appointment.
Fees are charged by appointment and a costed treatment plan is provided so patients can see what the treatment will cost overall. The plan and costs can be updated if new dental issues arise during the treatment.
- An initial appointment with an undergraduate student will cost NZ$130 (or NZ$98 with a Community Services Card) and each subsequent appointment will be charged at NZ$130 (or NZ$98) for an appointment until a cap is reached
- An appointment with a postgraduate student costs NZ$207 for a 1.5 hour appointment
- A scale and polish from an oral health undergraduate student costs NZ$33 per appointment (or NZ$25 with a Community Services Card) until a cap is reached
Payment is generally expected at the time of the appointment.
However, for anyone experiencing difficulty in paying for their dental treatment, or has received a cost estimate for further treatment, it is recommended to check with WINZ for eligibility
of a dental grant. Where anyone is not eligible for the WINZ grant, let the team know as soon as possible so that alternative options can be discussed.
Treatment covered by a funding scheme (such as ACC, OSHA, or a Te Whatu Ora contract) is not charged.
To confirm account balances, arrange overpayment refunds, or any other account queries, contact the Faculty of Dentistry. Contact should be from the patient concerned unless under 16 years of age or a different arrangement has been made in advance.
