If you were enrolled at the University of Otago in one or both of the previous two years, you are considered a returning student. Returning students are normally exempt from having their programme applications assessed under the Entry Pathway system, however they are still subject to the standard provisions of the University's Academic Progress Policy and the admission and progression regulations for specific programmes.

If you have taken a break of more than two years from study, you are considered a recommencing student. You may be required to provide the same evidence as a first-year student and are subject to the Entry Pathway system. You may enrol again subject to the standard provisions of the University's Academic Progress Policy and the admission and progression regulations for specific programmes.
