As there is no Student Health clinic on the University of Otago Wellington campus, a subsidy is offered for undergraduate health sciences and medical students to attend GPs.

The Newtown Medical Centre and Central Wellington Medical Centre both have an agreement with the school to enrol any of our students.

Any student making an appointment to see their GP should take both their University of Otago Student ID Card and their Community Services Card with them.

Some GP practices will send a confidential account to the Student Affairs Office for reimbursement, up to a maximum of $40. Any amount above $40 must be paid by the student at the time of the appointment.

Other GP practices will ask the student to pay the full amount. In this case a reimbursement form should be filled in (available from Student Affairs) and $40 will be reimbursed if the original receipt is presented at the same time.
