Change Microsoft Team public to private

Any student or staff member at the University of Otago can join, and view files in, a public Microsoft Team.

Often a public Team is not appropriate and is accidentally created, where a private Team would be preferable.

If you have created a public Team and are confident it is appropriate to remain public, contact AskOtago to advise of the Team name so that it may be added to the allow-list for public Teams.

If you have accidentally created a public Team and would like to convert it to a private Team, follow the instructions below:

1. Click the three dots beside the Team you are an owner of and select Edit team.
2. Change the Privacy drop-down to "Private" and click the Update button.
