How do I apply for a PhD

To apply for admission as a PhD candidate:

1. Visit the PhD application process page for detailed information.
2. Approach potential academic departments or supervisors:
   • Departments and Schools
   • Expertise database
3. Send an email outlining your research interests along with your academic record and a short CV.
4. If accepted, complete a formal application in eVision.

There are no deadlines for applying for PhD study at the University of Otago. You can apply at any time throughout the year. If admitted, it is up to you and your primary supervisor to agree on a start date, which must be the first day of a month.
