Submit a doctoral thesis for examination

When you are ready to submit your doctoral thesis for examination, you will need to follow the standard process.

How do I submit a PhD thesis

To submit your doctoral thesis:

1. Advise your supervisor of your intention to submit at least two months prior to your intended date.
2. Submit a final copy to Turnitin for a plagiarism check.

3. Email: phd@otago.ac.nz by the middle of the month you intend to submit, or by the first week of the month if you intend to submit in December.
4. When you are ready, you will need to submit:
   • A digital PDF file of your thesis
   • A signed Thesis submission declaration form (PDF 242KB). A digital signature is acceptable. A photocopied or scanned declaration is acceptable as long as the signature is handwritten or digital – not typed
