Understanding how your workload is structured helps you plan your study effectively.

Full-time and part-time study

For undergraduate study:

  • A full-time course is usually 54 to 72 points per semester, or 108 to 144 points in semester 1 and 2
  • A part-time course is generally anything below 54 points in a semester, or below 108 points across semester 1 and 2
  • At Summer School and Pre-Christmas Summer School, one 18‑point paper is considered a full-time workload

Part-time students may not be eligible for student allowances and may be restricted from certain scholarship opportunities. If you are worried, you are welcome to contact AskOtago to find out more.
