Kickstart 101 is a free university preparation programme offered to Pacific students before the beginning of their first year of study. The six-week Summer School paper helps Pacific students prepare for life at the University of Otago.

Who is this available to

Kickstart 101 is available only to those who meet the criteria for domestic student status in New Zealand, which includes:

  • New Zealand citizens (including those from the Cook Islands, Tokelau, and Niue)
  • Holders of a New Zealand residence class visa residing and studying in New Zealand
  • Australian citizens or permanent residents residing and studying in New Zealand

This programme is currently not open to international students.

How do I apply for Kickstart 101

To apply for Kickstart 101:

  1. Go to the Kickstart website.
  2. Click the Apply now button.
  3. Fill in your details and click Submit.

The application process is separate for the Pacific and Māori cohorts.
