How do I scan documents on a uniFLOW printer/Uniprintstation
To scan documents on a uniFLOW printer/Uniprintstation:
- Log in to the printer by swiping your ID card or pressing the AD Login button and entering your University of Otago username and password.
- Click on the Scan and Send button if you want to send the scanned document as an attachment to your student or staff email address.
Click on the Scan and Store button to save the scanned document to your USB. - Place your original face down on the scanning plate (with the corner of the document aligned with the red arrow in the top left) or face up in the document feeder to scan multiple pages at once. To add more pages to the same file, put your next document on the scanner, and press the Start button on the printer. Repeat until done and press Start Sending/Storing.
- Scanning to email: press Send to Myself.
Scanning to USB: plug your USB stick in at the right-hand side of the printer and choose it from the list on the touchscreen. Choose a location on your USB to save your file, then press Scan to go to the Options screen. - Wait while the printer scans your document.
- Click the Log Out link at the bottom of the screen to log out. Remove your USB and originals when you are finished.
Troubleshooting student printing problems
Some departmental MFDs have an Optical Character Recognition (OCR) reader feature that allows you to convert your scans into editable text documents. If you have Adobe Acrobat Pro installed on your computer, you can use its Recognise Text Using OCR tool (in the Document menu) to convert your scanned file into editable text, which you can then save as a .txt file.
To get access to your shared network drive from your MFD, contact AskOtago to request the following:
- A shared folder for your department on the high-capacity central file storage (HCS).
- A role-based account (username and password) to set up the read/write access on your shared folder in the HCS.
- A list of staff with read access to the folder in the HCS.
Desktop Support will set up the scan path and access for departmental staff to the folder using their normal login details to the MFD. These staff will then be able to access the HCS folder from their logged-in computers.
