There are dedicated mobility car parks across the Dunedin campus for students.

These parks, marked in blue, are available for University of Otago mobility parking permit holders only. They are administered by the Disability Information and Support Office.

Mobility Parking

Mobility parks are predominately for student use; however, Disability Information and Support operate a campus hopping scheme where staff members can temporarily use the parks when they have a meeting or lecture to attend in another area on campus. A permit must be displayed in these parks, and staff must not use the parks full-time.

For more information or to apply for a campus hopping permit, contact the Disability Information and Support office at: disabilities@otago.ac.nz Note that you must have an allocated carpark prior to applying.

Staff with mobility impairments can lease a University car park at the normal rate and can apply for leased parking.

Generally, priority will be given over others on the waiting list if an applicant can provide documentation from a relevant professional supporting the need for parking, and if the applicant meets the following requirements:

  • Unable to walk and relies on a wheelchair for mobility, or
  • Relies on mobility devices (e.g. crutches, walking stick, walking frame), or
  • Unable to walk more than 200 metres unassisted because of the nature or severity of the impairment

To ensure confidentiality is maintained, email all supporting documentation to: ohn@otago.ac.nz so that it can be reviewed by the Occupational Health Nurse and Health, Safety and Wellbeing. Supporting documentation must include guidance on how long the car park is required.
