If you have been offered a place on a non-research postgraduate programme at the University of Otago (for example a coursework master's, postgraduate certificate, or diploma) but need to start your study at a later date,  you can submit a request to defer your application.

How do I defer an offer of place

If you wish to defer an offer of place for a non-research postgraduate programme:

Domestic applicants:

  1. Contact AskOtago to request a deferral.
  2. Provide the appropriate information, including the programme you wish to defer.
  3. You will be contacted by Student Administration, who will advise you of your next steps.

First year international applicants:

  1. Log in to eVision.
  2. Navigate to My Programmes and Papers.
  3. Select Apply for Deferral.
  4. Complete the deferral request form for the programme you want to defer.
  5. You will be contacted by Student Administration, who will advise you of your next steps.
