An application for withdrawal under exceptional circumstances can be completed in eVision.
Applications to withdraw need to be submitted before the day of the final examination for the paper you wish to withdraw from. Or, by the last day of classes for the paper you wish to withdraw from, if there is no final examination. If you do not have the supporting documentation at the time of applying, you can submit this within 14 days of your application.
Who is this available to
University of Otago students who were prevented from withdrawing within the standard timeframe, or who need to withdraw due to circumstances outside of their control.
How do I withdraw under exceptional circumstances
To withdraw under exceptional circumstances:
- Log in to eVision.
- In Programme and papers, click on year and programme to display Actions then click on Change of Course.
- Click the Change button on the Withdraw from papers (after last day to delete) option.
- Select the programme from which you wish to withdraw papers from, then select the paper or papers you wish to withdraw from, and confirm your withdrawal.
- On the next page click Apply for exceptional withdrawal.
- Provide the information as requested for your application and upload your supporting documentation if it is available (this can be provided at a later date but must be within 14 days of your application).
- Complete the declaration for exceptional withdrawal.
If circumstances beyond your control prevent you from submitting an application via eVision, email: exceptional.withdrawal@otago.ac.nz detailing your reasons for requesting exceptional withdrawal and listing the paper(s) you intend to withdraw from.
