Postgraduate publishing bursaries support thesis candidates to prepare and submit papers for publication in peer-reviewed journals after thesis submission.

University of Otago masters' and PhD students who have submitted their thesis.

How do I apply for a postgraduate publishing bursary

To apply for a postgraduate publishing bursary:

  1. Go to Postgraduate publishing bursaries
  2. Select and complete the appropriate master's or PhD publishing bursary form.
  3. Obtain the signatures of your supervisor and head of department.
  4. Scan and email the completed form to publishing.bursary@otago.ac.nz

Submit the form within one month of submission of your thesis for examination.

When can I expect delivery

Doctoral candidates

  • Two-thirds of the total value of the bursary is paid directly into your bank account at the start of the bursary period
  • The remaining one-third is paid upon submission of a satisfactory report at the end of the period

Masters' candidates

  • Half of the total value of the bursary is paid directly into your bank account at the start of the bursary period
  • The remaining half is paid upon submission of a satisfactory report at the end of the period
