Postgraduate publishing bursaries support thesis candidates to prepare and submit papers for publication in peer-reviewed journals after thesis submission.

University of Otago masters' and PhD students who have submitted their thesis.
How do I apply for a postgraduate publishing bursary
To apply for a postgraduate publishing bursary:
- Go to Postgraduate publishing bursaries
- Select and complete the appropriate master's or PhD publishing bursary form.
- Obtain the signatures of your supervisor and head of department.
- Scan and email the completed form to publishing.bursary@otago.ac.nz
Submit the form within one month of submission of your thesis for examination.
When can I expect delivery
Doctoral candidates
- Two-thirds of the total value of the bursary is paid directly into your bank account at the start of the bursary period
- The remaining one-third is paid upon submission of a satisfactory report at the end of the period
Masters' candidates
- Half of the total value of the bursary is paid directly into your bank account at the start of the bursary period
- The remaining half is paid upon submission of a satisfactory report at the end of the period
