The University of Otago offers the Occupational English Test (OET) on campus.

Who is this available to

Students who are planning to study/are currently studying a professional healthcare programme, such as those offered through the Division of Health Sciences at the University of Otago. If you are unsure whether you are required to take an OET, discuss with your course co-ordinator, programme director, or other administrative staff for your programme.

How do I book an OET

To book an OET:

  1. Go to the OET website
  2. Select your region.
  3. Select the location you wish to take the test at.
  4. Click Book now.
  5. Complete the registration form and pay the fee.
  6. You will receive an email to confirm the booking.

How much does it cost

The full OET (four sub-tests including Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking) costs NZ$640 (approximately depending on exchange rate).

Single sub-tests can be booked at lesser costs, although this option is only available if you've previously taken the full OET.

When can I expect results

Results for OET on Computer/OET@Home are available within 10 days of the test date. Results for OET on Paper at a venue are available 17 days after the test date. You'll receive an email notifying you of when your results are published.
