You can obtain your ID card from the ID Card Office after completing your Student Declaration.
Your student ID card is valid for three years. The validity period is printed on your ID card. For example, a 2026 card will show Valid 2026 – 2028.
How do I obtain my ID card
To obtain your student ID card:
- Check your enrolment status in eVision.
- After completing your Declaration, wait 24 hours before going to get your ID card.
- Take one of the following forms of photo identification to the ID Card Office:
- 18+ Card
- Full passport
- Last year's University of Otago student ID card
- New Zealand Driver Licence
- New Zealand Firearms Licence
- Once your details are checked, the ID Card Office will take your photograph and print your new ID card.
No other types of identification are accepted. If you do not have one of the above, you can ask at the ID Card Office or the AskOtago Central Hub for a Proof of Identity form.
ID card office location and hours
The ID Card Office is located at the Uniprint printshop at Information Services Building (ISB), corner of Cumberland and Albany Streets, Dunedin.
Their normal opening hours are 9:00am to 4:30pm, Monday to Friday. During semester break, their hours are 10:00am to 2:00pm, Monday to Friday.
How much does it cost
There is no charge to get your student ID card.
