Campus Watch offers a security check service for Dunedin flats. While you are away from your flat, it will be checked regularly to ensure that it and its contents are safe and secure.
You can register your flat if it will be empty over the December/January period, or during the mid-semester breaks. Ensure your flat is secure by locking all doors and windows before departing.
This service is only available for flats in the area bounded by Harbour Terrace, Queen Street, Hanover Street, and Duke Street in North Dunedin.
Students are recommended to obtain contents insurance where possible for unique or high-value items. Depending on the specific circumstances of the situation, the University may be limited in what services can be offered to support students whose items have been damaged, stolen or lost. If you are unable to arrange for contents insurance, you may want to consider putting valuable items out of view in your residence or storing them in a locked container for safekeeping.
