The University of Otago Libraries offer a wide selection of Māori language and cultural resources to support staff in teaching and students in their studies and research. Te Aka a Tāwhaki is a dedicated collection of Māori materials located on the ground floor of the Central Library. This collection houses core resources for many courses across the University, focused on Māori language, history, and culture.
The Hocken Collections contain a wealth of specialist materials related to Māori, New Zealand and Pacific material. This includes historical manuscripts, photographs, artworks, and other significant cultural resources.
The Māori Engagement Advisor and Library Kaiāwhina are an additional point of contact for Māori students. They offer extra support and guidance, assisting with general queries and helping students navigate the Library’s resources.
