Students who have met the eligibility criteria can make an application for a Health Sciences undergraduate professional programme (HSUPP) in eVision.

How do I apply for a Health Sciences undergraduate professional programme

The application process for HSUPP varies depending on the programme and the category that you are applying under.

Medicine Alternative category

Applications open on 1 April and close on 1 May at 11:59pm each year, for entry in the following year.

All other Health Sciences undergraduate professional programmes

Applications open on 1 July each year. Closing dates vary each year, but will always be on a Thursday at 11:59pm.

Apply for a Health Sciences undergraduate professional programme if you have previously studied at the University of Otago:

  1. Log in to eVision.
  2. Go to My Programmes and Papers.
  3. Click Apply for another programme.
  4. Select Application for Health Sciences professional programmes from 1 July, or the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery if you are applying for the Alternative category from 1 April.
  5. Follow the steps to complete the process. You will be able to select your preferred programme/s.

Log in to eVision

Apply if you do not have an eVision account, or if you have not studied at the University of Otago previously:

  1. Go to the relevant Health Sciences undergraduate professional programme page.
  2. Select Apply now.
  3. Create an eVision account.
  4. Follow the steps to complete your application.

The application closing deadline is strictly adhered to.

If information or documents are not available

If you are unsure of some of the information required for your application, you are encouraged to submit your application by the deadline. Your application category or sub-category can be amended after the deadline by Student Administration if required.

How much does it cost

Application is free of charge, however there may be an associated cost for any required processes you need to complete before you begin your studies, such as vaccinations or background checks.
