Lighting installations on the University of Otago campuses have a wide variety of ages, types, and styles. This includes all lighting types used at the University, such as office lighting, lab lighting, general lighting, and external lighting.
Light fittings are maintained and installed by Electrical Services.
Faulty lighting is dealt to promptly, with supplies and staff on hand to attend to faults. Certain places, such as teaching spaces on campus, are considered more urgent than others when it comes to repairing issues. Flickering lighting is considered a hazard under health and safety standards and is prioritised accordingly.
Comfortable lighting levels are targeted in all spaces as per the University facility standards and energy-efficient LED lighting is installed when possible.
