If you are a student trying to access files from your previous Student Virtual Desktop (also known as H: Drive):

- For Windows, the mapping file pathway is:
\\student.otago.ac.nz\mds\Profiles-V2\<first letter of user name>\<username>
For example: \\student.otago.ac.nz\mds\Profiles-V2\b\bonja007 - On a Mac device, the mapping file pathway is:
smb://student.otago.ac.nz/mds/Profiles-V2/<first letter of user name>/<username>
For example: smb://student.otago.ac.nz/mds/Profiles-V2/b/bonja007
- For Windows, the mapping file pathway is:
- When mapping the file pathway to your device, you may encounter an authentication prompt requesting your username and password. Add the prefix
student\to your username (e.g. student\bonja007). - The H: Drive window will then pop up after signing in and you can access your Student Desktop files.
If you are a staff member trying to access your H: Drive:

\\registry.otago.ac.nz\mds\Profiles-V2\<first letter of user name>\<username>
For example: \\registry.otago.ac.nz\mds\Profiles-V2\b\bonja00p - Mac:
smb://registry.otago.ac.nz/mds/Profiles-V2/<first letter of user name>/<username>
For example: smb://registry.otago.ac.nz/mds/Profiles-V2/b/bonja00p
- Windows:
- If you encounter an authentication prompt requesting your username and password, add the prefix
registry\to your username (e.g. registry\bonja00p). - The H: Drive window will then pop up after signing in and you can access your Student Desktop files.
