The University provides new parent car parks for those returning to work after parental leave. These car parks are designed to help ease the transition back to work by reducing the stress of finding parking or arriving late.
Eligibility and allocation
New parent parks are available to staff members with children under 24 months, and priority may be given to parents with the youngest child or children with special or high needs. Expecting parents may apply for a new parent park within the two months prior to going on maternity leave.
Only one park per individual is available.
The availability of these parks depends on demand at the time.
Location and duration
New parent car parks are located in the north, centre, and south of the Dunedin campus, and wherever possible, they are covered. Parks are allocated for a minimum period of three months and a maximum of twelve months.
If no parks are available near the individual's work location, Property Services may temporarily relocate existing lease holders to accommodate a new parent park.
Parks may be sub-let to another University staff member if the holder is on extended leave, with Property Services approval.
