Aoroa | Brightspace is a web-based learning management system used at the University of Otago.
Assignments, such as essays and reports, can be submitted in Aoroa | Brightspace.
However, if your department provides specific instructions on how to submit an assignment in Aoroa | Brightspace, use those first.
How do I submit an assignment in Aoroa | Brightspace
To submit an assignment in Aoroa | Brightspace:
- Log in to Aoroa | Brightspace.
- Select the paper name for which you are submitting the assignment.
- On the navigation bar, select the Kaupapa Mahi | Activities button and click Taumahi | Assignments.
- Click on the name of the assignment link. If you are unsure where the assignment submission might be, you can ask your lecturer.
- Follow the instructions on how to complete your assignment. Many assignments will require a file to be uploaded.
- Click on Browse my computer to locate the file and double click to select it. Ensure your file names are simple and avoid using special characters (!, #, &, etc.). If you need to submit more than one file, repeat this step.
- When your assignment is ready to send, click Submit.
- A Review assignment submission message will appear at the top of the page. Click Done when you are ready to confirm submission.
- If the assignment type is a Turnitin submission, Turnitin will display a receipt upon successful submission. Take a copy of this by either taking a screenshot or clicking Print and saving as a PDF. Aoroa | Brightspace will send you a confirmation email informing you that your submission was received.
Contact AskOtago if:
- You have attempted to submit an assignment or exam using Aoroa | Brightspace but forgot to attach the file – the submission will be blank and have a timestamp
- Your lecturer has allowed only one submission, and you uploaded the wrong file or made a mistake
If your lecturer has allowed you to submit your assignment more than once, you can overwrite your original submission.
