Uni Exchange Aotearoa (UEA) is an initiative between the University of Otago, Victoria University of Wellington (VUW), and Auckland University of Technology (AUT) which allows full‑time domestic students in their second year of study the opportunity to spend one semester studying at either VUW or AUT.

University of Otago students in their second year of study who have a GPA of 5 or above.
How do I apply to go on outgoing exchange to VUW or AUT
To apply:
Contact AskOtago to confirm that you are eligible and submit an expression of interest. This should include:
- Your current programme of study, including majors and minors
- Your proposed exchange plans, if applicable
- Your preferred accommodation plans
- What you hope to gain from the exchange
- You may be asked to provide more information by the team assessing UEA applications.
If your application is successful, you will be referred to Student Development, who can provide general academic planning support, and will also guide you to:
- Identify potential papers you would like to take at VUW or AUT
- Discuss your paper choices with the exchange adviser in your department to confirm they can be credited toward your major or minor
- Develop an Exchange Learning Agreement
- Connect you with support at VUW or AUT
