If you have passed all of the papers required for your Pathway diploma (DipArts, DipCom, DipSc) you can decide whether you wish to have the qualification formally awarded or not.
Further study at Otago
If you are going to continue on to a degree programme at the University of Otago in the following year, the diploma will not usually be awarded and the papers you have passed will be credited towards your undergraduate degree.
If you do not have your diploma awarded and do not enrol for two consecutive years, your diploma will be automatically awarded early in the second year after you finished your diploma.
Finishing study
If you are not going to continue with your tertiary study at Otago in the following year or the foreseeable future, your diploma can be awarded. Email: pathways.admissions@otago.ac.nz so this can be arranged for you.
You will be eligible to apply for Fees Free via Inland Revenue once your diploma is awarded. Refer to the Inland Revenue website for more information on the eligibility requirements and when it is best to apply for Fees Free
Note that if your diploma is awarded you will not be able to claim Fees Free for further tertiary study in the future.
If you decide to have your diploma awarded but come back to study at Otago in the future, the full 126-point papers of an Otago Pathway Diploma can be credited towards your undergraduate degree.
Options for continuing study if you did not pass all papers
If you did not pass all of the papers you needed to complete your diploma but wish to enrol in an undergraduate degree anyway, the papers you passed can be credited towards an undergraduate degree as long as you meet the minimum requirement for admission.
