The University of Otago provides cyber security systems and support to prevent and mitigate risks caused by malicious communications and viruses.
- Cyber security incidents and risks are assessed and mitigated by the Information Technology Assurance and Cyber Security team (ITACS) to ensure compromised accounts, systems, or data are protected and any future risk is determined and reduced.
- Email Quarantine is a feature in Microsoft 365 designed to protect you from potentially harmful emails, such as phishing attempts, spam, or emails containing malicious content.
- Malware is malicious software designed to harm or exploit a computer or other device. The University Information Security policy and procedures are designed to protect all University users from malware.
- Spam and phishing emails are mitigated by the University's email system, which has built-in filters to protect users. Email addresses and domains reported as spam or phishing can be blacklisted to protect other users going forward.
