Student Health provide comprehensive primary health care services to University of Otago students. They have a team of health professionals including doctors (general practitioners/GPs), nurses, and mental health clinicians available to look after your wellbeing.

To make an urgent or routine appointment, phone 0800 479 821. Student Health appointments are generally 15 minutes in duration but if you need a longer appointment, request this when you book.

When Student Health is closed, you can access the following after hours and emergency health care options:

  • Freephone 0800 611 116 to contact Healthline if you need advice about your symptoms. Healthline is a free, 24-hour a day telephone health advice service funded by the Ministry of Health.
    Healthline registered nurses assess your condition and health needs and recommend the best course of action and a timeframe in which to take action. They can also provide general health information and location of services
  • Online GP Consultations with are available through Te Whatu Ora | Health New Zealand with registered healthcare professionals 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You can find out on the website if you are entitled to subsidies
  • Urgent appointments are available at Dunedin Urgent Doctors and Accident Centre on 18 Filleul Street, phone +64 3 479 2900
  • In a medical or mental health emergency, dial 111 for an ambulance or proceed directly to the Emergency Department of your nearest hospital. Dunedin Hospital is located at 201 Great King Street
  • For mental health-related advice, you can call or text 1737 free of charge 24/7

If a student owes money to Student Health, the amount won't show in eVision. They will need to contact Student Health to find out how much they owe and arrange payment with them directly.
