If you have an outstanding balance due to the University, you will be flagged as a debtor in eVision. Once the debtor flag is applied you will no longer have access to resources or services until the fee balance is cleared. Your access to resources can be reinstated once any outstanding debt is paid in full.

Debtor flags are applied to your eVision account for various reasons and the resolutions differ. You may have outstanding tuition fees, late fees or have a balance outstanding with one of the University's service providers, such as student health or UniFlats.

Once a tuition fee payment has been entered by AskOtago into the eVision portal, the student's debtor flag will be lifted immediately giving the student access to resources within 20-30 minutes.

If a student is flagged for a debt other than tuition fees, they will need to pay the debt to the relevant area before they can change their course.

If they are a debtor due to unpaid tuition fees and the change the student is wanting to make will resolve the issue (e.g. a debtor flag had been placed for semester 2 fees, but the student is wanting to delete all S2 papers before the deadline), AskOtago should call Student Finance and advise this. If appropriate Student Finance will lift the flag for 24 hours, giving the student time to make the change. Note that the change needs made within that timeframe as the flag will be added back in 24 hours.
