The ACC Accredited Employer Programme allows the University of Otago, as an ACC accredited employer, to act as an agent of ACC to manage workplace injuries and illnesses. The University can also provide entitlements for work-related personal injuries and illnesses, as required and defined by the Accident Compensation Act 2001.
ACC provides 24-hour, seven-day-a-week, no-fault eligibility for comprehensive injury cover for everyone in New Zealand, including those on work visas.

The University is required to provide exactly the same assistance as is available under the ACC legislation entitlement, but the University will also pay your surcharge costs for ACC-approved treatment providers such as physiotherapy and doctor visits on a work-related claim.
If you have an accident at work, report the incident on the Health and Safety Compliance web portal Vault as soon as possible so that an investigation can be completed:
If you need to see a doctor or seek treatment from ACC registered health providers, including physiotherapy, a work-related ACC claim will be generated by your treatment provider. The claim will be managed by the University Health and Safety Compliance team.
