Students enrolled at the University of Otago who have applied to graduate in the current year.
How do I hire academic dress (regalia)
To hire academic dress (regalia):
- Complete the regalia section of your graduation application when invited.
- Pay the amount owing in the eVision student portal.
Information about collecting and returning your academic dress (regalia), along with contact details for regalia conveners, is emailed approximately six weeks before the graduation ceremony.

Outside of the graduation period, the Academic Dress Office's opening hours are Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 12:00pm to 2:00pm.
For regalia required for photography, relatives, or graduands graduating in absentia, email: academic.dress@otago.ac.nz to arrange hire.
How much does it cost
Charges for hiring academic dress (regalia) are inclusive of GST:
- NZ$30 for a gown
- NZ$20 for a hood
- NZ$20 for each additional hood, if hiring more than one
- NZ$20 for a trencher or doctoral cap
Select the academic dress (regalia) you want to hire and pay the associated charge by credit card in eVision. Ensure that you make your payment at least five weeks before your graduation ceremony.
