The University of Otago has 15 residential colleges located within a short distance of the campus. First year students at the University of Otago will be invited to apply for a residential college via Te Puna during the University admission application process.

Who is this available to

Residential colleges are available to prospective students for their first year of study. Current students are eligible to apply but limited spaces are available for second year. Pathway Te Huarahi programme students, Otago Polytechnic students, Tū Kahika, and Pacific Foundation Scholarship students are eligible to apply for selected residential colleges.

How do I apply for a residential college

First year students

First year students at the University of Otago will be invited to apply for a residential college via Te Puna as part of the University admission application process.

Once you have started your application for study in eVision, you can initiate a Te Puna portal login:

  1. Log in to eVision.
  2. Click the Residential Colleges and Uni Flats link under the My Details box.
  3. Select the Login with personal email button to log in to Te Puna.
  4. You will be required to reset your password. Click on the Forgotten/Reset Password link and wait for an email to arrive.

International students under the age of 18 can apply for any residential college.

Log in to eVision

Pathway, Tū Kahika, Pacific Foundation Scholarship, Otago Polytechnic, and second year University students

You can apply for a residential college via the Te Puna student accommodation portal:

  1. Go to the Te Puna student accommodation portal.
  2. Click on Register in the top left-hand corner of the welcome screen.
  3. Follow the onscreen instructions to begin your application.

Pathway students can apply for any residential college.

Otago Polytechnic students can only apply for a place at Salmond College.

Tū Kahika and Pacific Foundation Scholarship students can only apply for Studholme College.
