A special examination may be offered as an option if you are granted Special Consideration in your final examinations.
This is a new examination which allows performance to be assessed without significant impairment. Special examinations may be held sometime after the examination period, but where possible they will be scheduled before teaching commences in the next semester. If you sit a special examination, your final result will be the best result out of your special examination and your original examination.
A limited number of special examinations are run centrally. Centrally run special examinations will appear in the special examination timetable.
Most special examinations are organised by individual departments and will not appear in the special examination timetable. If you need further information about your departmentally run special examination, contact the relevant teaching department.
