Peer-Assisted Study Sessions (PASS) can help you succeed with your studies by taking part in a 50-minute study group each week. The groups are facilitated by second- or third-year students (known as PASS facilitators), who were successful in their first year and know the course content well.
PASS runs from week 2 to week 13 of both semesters, allowing you to regularly revise the course material in a social, collaborative, and interactive environment. The sessions also provide you with opportunities to discuss effective approaches to learning.
In PASS sessions, you work collaboratively with other students on subject-related problems and questions to deepen your understanding of course material. PASS is designed to support both what you learn (course or paper content) and how you learn, by integrating academic reasoning and effective study skills into each session.
PASS sessions are interactive and discussion-based, encouraging active participation rather than re-teaching lectures or providing answers. This peer-led approach helps you build confidence, clarify concepts, and develop independent learning strategies in a supportive environment.
