The University of Otago maintains a number of archival and special collections, including collected artworks, available for viewing and borrowing by staff and students.
Collections include photographs, artwork, exhibitions, galleries, manuscripts, articles, books, and published material. A number of these date back to some of the earliest examples of European printing and named collections from prominent figures in Otago's history.
Collections available include:
- Artworks collections are housed in many University buildings and across campuses, reflecting the culture and character of the University
- Hocken Collections include various archival materials, particularly emphasising the histories, cultures, and natural environments of Aotearoa New Zealand, the Pacific, and Antarctica
- Special collections are in the University's library, providing access to special, rare and unique books and manuscripts
