The Diploma for Graduates (DipGrad) is a flexible qualification that can be used to:

  • Add a new major subject
  • Achieve professional accreditation
  • Retrain in a new discipline
  • Build a bridge to postgraduate study
  • Improve job opportunities
  • Take advantage of extra papers taken during degree studies
  • Refresh or update existing qualifications

A DipGrad can be used to specialise in one subject or to broaden academic backgrounds by combining several subjects.

Types of Diploma for Graduates

There are two types of Diploma for Graduates:

  • An un-endorsed DipGrad, which is more flexible and allows you to combine papers from different subjects. This option is commonly used by students who want to strengthen more than one subject area, such as prospective teachers
  • An endorsed DipGrad, which focuses on a single subject and closely approximates a major in that subject

Structure and requirements

The DipGrad normally consists of at least 120 points (seven papers). At least 72 points must be at 200-level or above, including a minimum of four papers above 200-level.

A typical structure may include four 300-level papers, plus a mix of 100-level and 200-level papers. The exact structure can vary, depending on your academic background, career goals, and subject prerequisites.

In some cases, prerequisites may be waived based on previous study. In other cases, prerequisites are required and may increase the total number of papers needed to complete the DipGrad.
