The team of specialised and trained international student advisers (ISAs) is based in Dunedin.

If you are an international student, on any of the University's campuses, ISAs offer confidential help and support with:

  • Academic issues
  • Cultural adjustment and homesickness
  • Insurance claims (student safe insurance)
  • Navigating NZ Health System and ACC
  • Explaining University of Otago-specific processes and language
  • Family support
  • Flatting and accommodation issues
  • General health and wellbeing
  • Some communication or forms from home governments or home universities

Advisers can refer you to other specialised services as required. For support, contact an ISA:

Tel +64 3 479 8344
Email international-support@otago.ac.nz to arrange an appointment, either in person or online.

ISAs are also available in person at the AskOtago Central Hub in Dunedin between 11:00am and 3:00pm, Monday to Friday, for drop-in appointments. Come to the AskOtago desk and ask to consult with an ISA.
