As an international student arriving in Dunedin, you will be expected to register for an international orientation seminar where you will provide documentation and finalise your enrolment.
This does not apply to PhD and master's by thesis students – you will instead be required to meet with an international student adviser at the AskOtago Central Hub to complete your enrolment.
If you are arriving on the Wellington campus, contact the onsite Student Experience Co-ordinator at postgrad.uow@otago.ac.nz to book an appointment. You will need to bring your passport.
If you are arriving on the Christchurch campus, your supervisor will arrange for you to meet with the Manager of Academic Programmes, or you can contact them to book an appointment yourself. You will need to bring your passport, visa, a passport size photo for your student ID card, and any documents you have relating to a scholarship.
New international students arriving on campus outside of semester start, new master's by thesis students, or new PhD students, are directed via the website to report to the AskOtago Central Hub between 11am and 3pm weekdays to meet with an International Adviser.
AskOtago staff at the Central Hub should not take any documentation from the student. They should ask for the student's ID number and then direct them to the seating area and notify the International Student Adviser via the ISAs — Central Hub Teams channel that the student is waiting to see them.
Students arriving outside appointment hours should be asked to come back between 11am and 3pm and only directed to the International Office in the Clocktower if urgent.
