The University of Otago provides an internal IT network and internet for staff and students.
The University supports these to ensure smooth network operation for work and study.
- The University of Otago's Wi-Fi, eduroam, for staff and students, also provides free and secure Wi-Fi in many places nationally and internationally, by using the app to connect. Guests from other eduroam institutions can connect to Otago's eduroam.
- UO_GUEST is the University-wide Wi-Fi network that provides guests/members of the public, without eduroam, with temporary internet and network access via a guest account.
- A Virtual Private Network (VPN) allows staff and students not physically on campus to access the University network.
- The wired network is available for devices that do not have Wi-Fi capability or need a higher degree of network stability.
- Network outlets for the wired network can be activated and installed at the request of staff or departments, when appropriate.
