The University of Otago provides internal network access and internet for use by staff and students.
The architecture, installation, and operation of the University network, including Wi-Fi/wired access, access management and network security, is supported by the University to ensure the smooth operation of the network for continued work and study.
- eduroam is the University-wide Wi-Fi network that provides visiting staff and students from other institutions in the eduroam agreement with internet and network access.
- Network outlets for the wired network can be activated and installed at the request of staff or departments, when appropriate.
- UO_GUEST is the University-wide Wi-Fi network that provides guests/members of the public with temporary internet and network access via a guest account.
- UO_WIFI is the University-wide Wi-Fi network that provides staff and students with internet and network access.
- A Virtual Private Network (VPN) allows users not physically located on campus to access the University network.
- The wired network is available for devices that do not have Wi-Fi capability or need a higher degree of network stability.
