Students are expected to perform at a satisfactory academic level. Students who do not meet these requirements are subject to a process under the University of Otago's academic progress policy.
Support is available for students who do not meet satisfactory progress.
- Academic progress monitoring is undertaken every year. Students who have not passed half their points in a semester will be given an academic warning.
- A Back on Track plan is required for students on conditional enrolment to identify what needs to change and what support they can access.
- Conditional enrolment assistance is offered when students have not passed more than half their points in any given year.
- Support for multiple attempts at a paper is offered to students who have failed a paper.
- Suspension support is available for students who have been placed on suspension. This may occur for students who do not make satisfactory progress on conditional enrolment.
