Dunedin
All new incoming international students (except PhD students and some Study Abroad students) need to register for a New International Student Enrolment & Orientation Seminar before arrival on campus.
Seminar registration will be available from mid-January for semester 1 starts. You will have to bring your passport with you to the seminar, and a paper copy of your electronic visa, if you have one. At the seminar you'll be given information about completing your enrolment, receiving your ID card, and starting your studies as well as information about Dunedin, Otago, and New Zealand in general.
Wellington
Check in at AskOtago Wellington reception, located at Level 7, Ward Support Block (WSB), 23A Mein Street, Newtown, Wellington. Please have your passport and visa with you.
Christchurch
Your supervisor will arrange for you to meet with the Manager, Academic Programmes, or you can contact them to book an appointment yourself. You will need to bring your passport, visa, a passport size photo for your student ID card, and any documents you have relating to a scholarship.
New international students arriving on campus, transitioning from online to on-campus, or new PhD students, are directed via the website to report to the AskOtago Central Hub between 11am and 3pm weekdays to see an International Adviser.
AskOtago staff at the Central Hub should not take any documentation from the student. They should ask for the student's ID number and then direct them to the seating area and notify the International Student Adviser via the ISAs — Central Hub Teams channel that the student is waiting to see them.
Students arriving outside appointment hours should be asked to come back between 11am and 3pm and only directed to the International Office in the Clocktower if urgent.
